In-Home Care Services and Senior Technology Enhance Safety

When an older loved one needs help to remain comfortable, independent, and safe at home, home care services are a perfect solution. But what about when a loved one’s caregiver leaves after their shift? Unless the person receives around-the-clock care, there are periods of time that they will be alone and without direct access to assistance.

For many, 24/7, around-the-clock care is simply not financially viable, realistic, or preferred. We recognize that interruptions in care can result in anxiousness for family caregivers, and safety issues for older adults. For that reason, we’ve invested heavily in exploring non-intrusive and effective ways to close these gaps.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new partnership with StackCare, and to share how it can elevate the level of care Morning Glory Home Care can provide to your loved ones!

With SmartCare by StackCare, you get comfort in knowing a family member has senior technology in place that will give them an added layer of support between caregiver visits.

How Does SmartCare Technology Work?

You’re probably familiar with other kinds of senior technology tools, like cameras and wearable pendants. In contrast to those devices, SmartCare is unobtrusive and won’t hinder a family member’s lifestyle – because they don’t need to wear anything at all or have anxiety about being recorded on camera. Instead, SmartCare uses tiny, discreetly-situated motion sensors that are placed around the home. In just a few minutes, the system is functional.

From there, artificial intelligence learns about the person’s regular routines, behaviors, and activities by gathering data supplied by the motion sensors. Real-time alerts are delivered to you and/or our care team to notify of any changes in motion patterns which may be a reason for concern. For example, if the older adult’s bathroom visits are increasing, it may suggest a UTI or some other health concern.

These real-time updates allow for proactive, immediate intervention, to reduce the chance of hospitalizations or the need for the person to face a move to a long-term care facility.

What Are the Advantages of SmartCare?

Perhaps the biggest advantage is the peace of mind you will have, knowing the person you love is safe and well. With daily updates, you can feel comfortable knowing that the older adult has had a good night’s sleep and is engaging in normal activities around the home.

Additional benefits include:

  • No microphones, batteries to change, or cameras
  • No sense of intrusion that a camera might cause
  • Nothing your loved one has to remember to put on or press for help
  • Built-in thermometers to guarantee the home temperature is comfortable
  • Privacy protection
  • 24/7 access to real-time alerts and insights
  • Uncomplicated installation and operation
  • A chat feature to easily share information among loved ones
  • And much more

There Are a Variety of Ways to Use SmartCare

We understand that each person’s needs are unique. That is why we offer a number of different ways for you to integrate SmartCare into a loved one’s care routine:

  • 24/7 monitoring by our home health care professionals
  • A “Share the Care” model in which we monitor during the day, and your family takes over throughout the evenings and weekends
  • A standalone model for your family to utilize without senior care services
